Reform the Internet: Melissa Rescott Interview
Apr 28, 2025
Today’s episode from Reform the Internet is special because Matthew and Corey are interviewing Melissa Rescott, wife of our very own Matthew. Corey wrote the questions, and trust them, you’re going to love this conversation. Let’s meet Melissa! She’s a mom of two with a third on the way, has a degree from Liberty University, and used to run patient services at a local pregnancy center. She’s also known as the “crunchmaster of the valley” and—fun fact—she’s a twin! Her sister, Kathryn, looks just like her.
Reform the Internet: Twin Talk
Matthew kicks things off by asking Melissa who the better twin is. Melissa laughs it off, saying neither of them is better—they’re just different people. When Matthew pushes a bit more, she keeps it simple: They’re like mirror images of each other.
Hypothetical Questions and Women’s Rights
Matthew throws Melissa a curveball, asking if she’d rather play as herself or her sister in a “game of life” video game. Melissa calls the question bizarre but eventually picks herself. The conversation takes a more serious turn when women’s voting rights come up. Melissa admits she has some personal thoughts but prefers not to share them on camera. She’s thankful for the right to vote but finds it frustrating when her vote cancels out her husband’s. We watch a clip from Pastor Doug Wilson arguing that women’s suffrage was a "war on the family." Melissa seems uncomfortable but says it’s important for women to vote, especially when dealing with abusive husbands. She also believes God is ultimately in control of who becomes a leader, even though she was skeptical about the 2020 election. Melissa explains she didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 but admits she was surprised by the Supreme Court picks that led to Roe v. Wade being overturned.
Reform the Internet: Marriage, Parenting, and Furniture Fights
Matthew asks what superpower she would give him, and Melissa jokes it would be something related to electricity—like The Flash—because of his high energy. They also talk about their first big argument as newlyweds, which was about how to arrange their couches. Melissa locked herself in the bathroom after feeling ignored, but in the end, her couch setup won. They’re still having “couch drama” today because Matthew isn’t thrilled with her latest living room changes. Melissa tells a funny story about finding a free chair on the side of the road. She describes it as the ugliest yellow-green color, but she couldn’t resist bringing it home. (We definitely need to see a picture of that chair!)
Melissa’s Life Advice and Deep Thoughts
For marriage and parenting, Melissa says to expect growth through challenges—it’s all about sacrifice and being stretched. If she could ask God one thing, it would be to show her a video of all the times He protected her without her knowing. She recalls a scary near-miss with a tractor-trailer and wonders if that was one of those moments. If Melissa were president, her first law would offer tax breaks for stay-at-home moms because of their impact on children and families. Matthew jokes about more extreme laws, but Melissa shuts that down fast.
Reform the Internet: Closing Thoughts
The interview ends with a few lighthearted questions about twin superpowers (spoiler: they don’t have any) and Melissa’s presidential campaign slogan (it’s about world peace). Overall, this conversation gave us a great look into Melissa and Matthew’s life. Melissa is thoughtful, strong in her beliefs, and not afraid to speak her mind—even when she disagrees with her husband. And it’s clear Matthew adores her, even when they bicker about furniture. Matthew and Corey hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes chat with Melissa! Let them know what you think in the comments below.
